From February 21st through to February 25th in various parts of Nigeria and Gambia, there have been screening panels going on, selecting the best possible films to go on for nomination. I was honoured to be called upon to be part of the selection committee and was in the second batch. My colleagues and I spent 5 days screening several movies for selection to the next stage. Committee members came from around the country and as far as Ghana for the exercise!
Nominations will be revealed in Malawi, Friday, March 15, 2013.
The event is presented annually to recognize excellence in the African film industry, rewarding directors, actors, and writers. The awards are aimed at honouring and promoting excellence in the African movie industry as well as uniting the African continent through arts and culture.
