The legend that is Fela continues to live on! This time the spotlight is shone on his army army of talented, colourful queens known as ‘The Kalakuta Queens’.The production is courtesy by the Bolanle Austen-Peters (BAP) Production house, which also gave us ‘Saro The Musical’, ‘Wakaa Now’, etc.

She asserts that ‘Africans are capable of telling their own stories better’ and I fully agree with her.

The musical biopic, Fela and the Kalakuta Queens, opens on December 23, 2017 at Terra Kulture Arena, Victoria Island, Lagos and focuses on untold story of the women from which Africa’s biggest musical export, the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti got his inspiration from. It is the story of Fela’s ladies, whose dance steps, fashion and styles have sowed the seeds of contemporary African culture ahead of their time.
